Adult Summer Reading Club Ends

All good things must come to an end and Adult Summer Reading Club counts as one of those things. This Saturday, August 2nd, is the last day for you to record books that you've read and to pick up your final prize. Don't forget that even if you've already read your six books you should still be recording your books with us so you can get double movie rental coupons. Thank you to everyone who participated as well as the Friends of the Library for their continued support!

Summer Reading Club Pizza Party

Kids who are participating in the Paws to Read Summer Reading Club are invited to celebrate another successful summer of reading. On Saturday, August 2nd at 12:00 noon, kids can join us at the library for pizza and fun! If kids haven't finished their books for Paws to Read Summer Reading Club then they should have no fear since they've got two more weeks to do so, as Paws to Read Summer Reading Club won't end until Saturday, August 16th.

On  Wednesday, July 30th at 7:00 p.m., presenter William Pack will weave together technical details of the fire with vivid, firsthand accounts from those who lived through the conflagration of 1871. This entertaining, multimedia storytelling event is suitable for adults, teens, and families with older children.

The College Essay, or How to Keep an Admissions Officer Awake

The essay is the only part of a college application that’s completely in the student’s control. On Tuesday, July 29th at 7:30 pm you can learn how to make the most of it from Hanna Stotland, a college admissions consultant with over a decade of experience. Ms. Stotland will cover getting started, subjects to avoid, and how to stand out from the crowd. Both students and parents are welcome.

The Surrealist World of René Magritte

Art historian Jeff Mishur returns to the library on Monday, July 7 at 7:00 to discuss Magritte's relationship to the Surrealist movement and places his work in an appropriate historic context. Jeff's slide lectures are always popular and informative!
